Almost good as new#

I am almost back to normal :) I have decided to stop taking pain killers etc coz all they do is make me feel very spaced out and odd and I hate feeling odd.... Well, more odd ;) My bruises are all still there but they aren't sore anymore, just ugly so hopefully i'll be back on the saddle soon.

My sister and nephew are here *huge big gigantic grin* It is so good to have them here and to see my nephew in the flesh again. I can't believe how big he is now! He is so much more interactive then when I was in Aus in Feb. I got to show him off at work yesterday, I felt like a real proud aunty!!!!

Passover is FINALLY finished so now my diet can go back to normal. YAY!!!!!! You don't understand how good my bowl of cereal tasted this morning. mmmmmmm

I had a very strange thought yesterday. I have always thought that my sister and I have completely different body types and builds and genetic make up etc... She has always been very thin and I have always been fat (big boned). But then I looked at my brothers. They are identical twins. When they were little, no one could tell them apart. They were so identical and were both VERY skinny. Now that they are grown up, the one is still skinny (like my sister) and the other is overweight (like me). They couldn't look more different now. People are even shocked to hear that they are twins. Now what made me start thinking is that I know if the one loses weight he will look exactly the same as the other. Their body types have to be the same because they were exactly the same when they were little. Therefore, I might look like my sister when I lose more weight. :) hehe Wouldn't that be fantastic???

I can't wait to unwrap these layers and see what I really look like. Its quite a nice thought. I'll just have to hurry up and start unwrapping myself!!!!

food food food and more food#

It has been a fantastic long weekend (well, most of it). I had a great Passover too, but there was just too much food :( Every time I looked there was more! AND the worst part is that tonight and tomorrow night are the last two days of passover and ..... you guessed it.... MORE FOOD!!!!!!! So, I guess I won't be getting my wok for a while still ;) I have been trying to eat mainly fruit and veggies, but with all the yummy stuff to tempt me, well it isn't that easy to say no. Hehe so I figure hey, its only one week of the year... I will be back to normal by Thursday.

I had a bit of an accident on Sunday. My brother and I decided to go on a LONG bike ride (55km) to try and work off some of the effects of passover. We were doing so well and I was really enjoying the ride. We were on the home stretch which is mainly downhill so I was really looking forward to that (I like speed). I had to stop at a traffic light which changed to green just as I stopped so I tried to pull off again. I was in the toughest gear because we had been going down hill and I think I put too much pressure on the gears and my chain snapped off and I completely lost control and toppled over and the bike fell on me then I fell on the bike and then my head slammed into the road :( All I can say is thank g-d for helmets!!!! I am now very bruised and sore and I am sure I have whip lash. So I spent the rest of the weekend feeling very sorry for myself. It could have been a lot worse so I count myself very lucky. I suppose you can't call yourself a cyclist until you've had at least one fall ;) hehe

What bugs me the most is that I can't go to gym now... I have to get my neck and shoulder sorted out first because I don't want to damage myself more.

On a VERY happy note! My sister and nephew arrive tomorrow *huge grin* We are all bursting with excitement. I can't wait to see them and to hug and kiss and spoilt my nephew to bits.

Oooh ooh I had the family over for tea on the weekend and my uncle and aunt bought me the most amazing coffee machine!!!! Now I can make real cuppuccinos (excuse the spelling) etc. *grin* So exciting!

I hope you all had a good easter and a good rest.

BUT just as I was about to take it, my will power kicked in and I said NO!!!!!!!! yay me :) I feel so proud of myself. I know it sounds silly, but today of all days, it is a BIG BIG thing. hehe

Be safe and have fun!

great weekend#

I had the most awesome weekend :) You know when you get one of those weekends where you had a good time, all the time!

It started off on Saturday morning with a facial (okay, the lady nearly killed me but it felt good afterwards). Then I went with my parents to a 2nd hand office furniture store and bought the most stunning desk! I got such a GREAT deal. After that we went to Fordsberg (a very Indian / muslim area in Johannesburg). I needed a costume for my friends 30th, the theme was Arabian. We found this little shop in the middle of nowhere that sold traditional muslim clothes. I spent ages trying on all these pretty (but not flattering) muslim dresses and head scarves. The lady in the shop showed me how to wear the scarf properly and I walked out with my constume for the evening. After that we went back to my flat, my dad and I carried my desk up all 3 flights of stairs :) and then I got ready and headed off to the party. It was so much fun! Everyone made a huge effort to dress up and the food was amazing! (not fat friendly at all though).

Here is a pic from the party :) Don't I make a good jewish muslim? hehe

Then yesterday morning I fetched my couch. It took four strong guys, almost 45 min to get it upstairs.. Then we barely got it in the door... so it is definately here to stay :) I LOVE it though. You must see how amazing my flat is looking now. I just want to be there all the time!

I intended to go to gym this morning, but I had a horrilbe nights sleep, or rather lack of sleep and I ended up doing some exercise ball stuff for half an hour instead.

I am going to attempt to make a pot of fresh veggie soup tonight, if anyone has any tips, please feel free to pass them on.

Hope you all had a good weekend and are well and happy.

Late nights and little sleep#

I really am not good with late nights *yawn* I NEED at least 7 hours sleep a night. The last two nights I think I have had 7 altogether... not good! My eyes are starting to resemble road maps.

The date went well. I think... The guy (lets call him Physio-guy) is very sweet, tall and skinny. I met him at 8 and got home at about 10h30pm. We had a lot to chat about and there weren't any awkward moments. In fact I think we have a lot in common. However I have NO idea what he thinks of me or what happens next. All he said when we left was "nice meeting you", so now I am clueless as to if he is interrested or not. *shrug* - I really hate these blind date things. Argh! There were no immediate sparks or anything, but he is the type of guy i'd like to have as a friend and could be a really good one. So I guess thats a good start. So now I guess I wait :)

I haven't been to gym for two days now. I didn't go yesterday coz I got home late from the date, and I didn't go today coz I went out last night and got home VERY early this morning :) *yawn* Oh the perils of socializing ;)

So thats my story... I'll keep you posted on the Physio-guy saga.

wonderful agony#

Oh the pain!!!! It hurts when my hair moves in the wind!!!!! hehe okay, not THAT bad but WOW! I changed my gym routine a bit and I decided to do some hectic toning yesterday. Today I decided to do the super circuit and now I am SORE!!! very very sore. But what a nice sore it is.

I am very proud to say that I have now gone to gym for the past 3 days in a row!!! yay! I am not going tomorrow though, but I have a good excuse. See, I am going on a blind date tonight :) eeeek! scary! *shake*

This is the first blind date that I am going on that I actually feel positive about!! Its totally bizarre. Normally i'd be totally shitting myself and freaking out and imagining the guy to be a complete freak (with warts). But this guy actually sounds really nice. AND he is over 6 foot!!!!! *grin* Anyone who knows jewish people will know how rare it is to find a tall jewish guy ;) hehe (I am about 5 foot 9). So, I am very excited and nervous. I really hope that this will work out. I am sick of being single. This is the first time that I am going on a blind date feeling comfortable with myself too. I am still overweight looking, but at least I am not gross anymore. I feel and look a lot healthier then ever before so hopefully he will feel the same. Thats if I like him too ;) hehe So! Watch this space!

I haven't weighed myself for a while... giving it a break kind of :) (yes, I have been bad and I don't want to face the consequences) hehe
